“Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.” - Thomas Jefferson
When beginning a diet plan like the one you’re following, a change of mindset is in order. While this program is short-term, it helps to think of it as a lifestyle change, not necessarily a diet. Of course you won’t be using protein supplements forever, but the foods you’re eating alongside those supplements are the ones that will help you sustain your weight loss for years to come.
The “diet” mindset is one that often backfires. Words like “cheating” and “failing” when you eat something outside of your plan can lead to yo-yo dieting, potentially throwing your metabolism out of whack. Remind yourself that the foods you eat are for your health and are meant to sustain your daily activities (“eat to live, not live to eat”).
Learn to enjoy whole, nutritious foods again; your health is worth passing over processed junk loaded with sugar and preservatives. Keep in mind how good those healthy foods make you feel, and remind yourself that you’re changing your life, not just dieting. Feeling positive about your weight loss plan will help you stick to it!
